Is your workspace built for success? You might not realise it, but your environment has a huge role to play in your success. Your environment consists of your surroundings, and what (or who) occupies those surroundings. By setting your environment up for success, you’ll find it much easier to embrace new opportunities and drive real success for you, your business, and your future.
Creating an environment for success may seem a little strange at first because it’s not traditionally associated with mindset. However, your environment has a direct influence on your mindset. Your environment comprises the places you go, the people you associate with, and all of the things around you.
If your environment isn’t right, it is not conducive to achieving your goals. Staying in the wrong environment for too long can lead to procrastination, overwhelm, and difficulty taking action and fulfilling plans. So, how can you make sure that your environment is built for success?
I share some practical tips to help you create an environment for success in this episode of The Mindset Coach podcast. I’ll take you through some of the steps and decisions you can make to ensure your environment fully supports your goals and desires.
I hope these tips help you create an environment that stimulates your mind and empowers you to achieve your biggest goals!

Declutter your physical environment
A cluttered space creates a cluttered mind, which is why it so important to declutter your physical environment. A chaotic environment can be a huge distraction that reduces attention and focus.
So, what can you do to declutter your environment?
I suggest starting by getting rid of the things that no longer serve you or your coaching business. Perhaps you acquired things that once helped you out, but now they’ve been left to collect dust. If something no longer serves a purpose, get rid of it!
Decluttering other areas of your life is equally as important as tidying your desk. If there are jobs to do around the house you’ve been putting off, they can clutter your mind because they’re always nagging you. When you know there is clutter in the glove box of your car or the corner of your office, it can divert your attention away from what you should be focusing on. So, roll up your sleeves and start decluttering!
If you’re prone to procrastinating, decluttering will help alleviate distractions that make it difficult for you to focus on achieving your goals.
Organise your workspace
Whether you work from an office in the city or at home, it’s essential to create a workspace designed for getting work done. I’m not saying you need the fanciest table, the latest computer technology, or a bunch of house plants. However, segmenting your workspace and turning it into a productive work environment is vital because you need a place to work in peace.
Organising your workspace also means cleaning up your inbox. I know you probably have tons of unread emails, unsent drafts, and junk mail stored up over weeks, months, or even years. But a cluttered inbox can unconsciously distract you from achieving success because you always have that inner voice reminding you that it’s there.
Think about how you can declutter your emails. Do you have an email system that works for you? Do you have your emails sorted into folders? A great way to keep on top of your emails is to check them twice a day. You could check them in the morning and again in the afternoon. Then, take action on the emails that require your attention within that time-space. When you are done, close your inbox down and get on with the rest of your day.
Now, back to your office or workspace. What is it like? Is it a place where you enjoy spending time? If not, think about how you can make your office more enjoyable. Perhaps you could invest in a comfortable chair or add a few personal touches here and there to make it feel more homely.
Think about the things that you can do to make your workspace somewhere you can step into your future self’s identity.
Think about things like your office furniture and the systems and equipment you use in your business. What systems do you need to ensure the smooth operation of your business? How can you increase productivity and use your time more wisely while in your workspace? The purpose of this is to create an environment that supports you in achieving your goals.
Build a support network
The people around you should support and encourage you to keep going, even when you feel like giving up. Having a community of people around you who truly understand what it’s like to own your own business is so valuable. Being part of a community of people who understand what you’re going through can help lighten the burden that you may feel at times.
Think about who you want to develop relationships with and actively make an effort to reach out to those people. Join our Facebook group, The Mindset Coach Collective, to meet and engage with like-minded people. It’s free, and it’s a great way to build connections with other business owners who can offer their support and advice when necessary.
Speaking of social media, are your social media interactions conducive to supporting you and your goals? You can interact with social media in a meaningful way. But, if you’re not careful, it can also be like a white rabbit that sends you plummeting down a spiral of distraction and further procrastination. Protect your mindset while using social media and make strategic decisions about how you plan to use those platforms in the future.
Finally, consider finding yourself a “business bestie.” This is someone who is also in business and understands how business works. You can support each other in many ways, such as keeping the other accountable, running ideas by them, and helping each other to stay focused and productive. Connecting with people who really “get it” is a great way to keep you motivated and create a positive and supportive environment.
I hope that you enjoy these tips and they help you to create an environment built for success!
