How to Use This Workbook

This workbook will help you explore, clarify, and refine your coaching niche and ideal client. Your niche is the intersection between the people you are well placed to support, the problem or transformation they care about, your strengths and experience, and a real market need.

Many coaches begin with a broad idea such as:

💬 "I help people build confidence."

A clearer niche might be:

💬 "I help women in midlife rebuild confidence, identity, and direction after years of prioritising everyone else."

This workbook will help you move from broad ideas into a more specific, useful, and marketable client profile — forming the foundation for your offers and marketing strategy.

What patterns do you notice?
Q6Who Naturally Comes to You?

What kinds of people already open up to you or seek your perspective? Look for natural patterns — they may not be paying clients yet.

Choosing and Testing Your Strongest Niche

Select your current best-fit direction and test it across key criteria

→My Strongest Niche Idea

This does not need to be your forever niche — think of it as your current best-fit client focus.

Q12Specificity

Can you clearly picture this person? Would they recognise themselves in your content? Is the problem and life stage clear?

How specific is my niche right now?
How could I make it more specific?
Q13Urgency

Is this problem affecting their confidence, wellbeing, relationships, career, or identity? Are they actively looking for answers?

Why might this problem feel urgent or important to them?
What might they lose, miss out on, or continue tolerating if nothing changes?
Q14Readiness for Coaching
What makes them ready — or not ready — for coaching?
What would they need to believe about coaching before saying yes?
Q15Financial Capacity and Willingness to Invest
What is their likely financial capacity?
What might make coaching feel worth paying for?
What might stop them from investing?
Q16Coach Alignment
This niche aligns with me because:
Where might I need more experience, confidence, training, or support?
Q17Differentiation

You don't need to be the only coach in this space — but you do need a clear reason why your perspective is relevant.

What might make your approach different or meaningful?
What do you understand about this client that others may miss?
Q18Transformation Potential
What could change for them through coaching?
What would be different in their thoughts, beliefs, identity, habits, choices, emotions, or behaviours?

Q21Their Inner World

People often invest in coaching because of how the problem feels internally, not just what is happening externally.

What do they believe about themselves?
What fears, doubts, or insecurities might they carry?
What do they secretly worry might be true?
What are they tired of pretending is fine?
What emotions are most present for them?
What do they wish someone understood?
Q22External Challenges
What practical obstacles are they facing?

Buying Motivation and Messaging

Understand what would make this person actually seek support and invest

Q25Why Would They Invest?
What would make this person decide now is the time to get support?
What problem has become too costly, painful, or limiting to ignore?
What outcome would feel valuable enough to pay for?
Q26Trust and Credibility
What would make this person trust a coach?
What would they need to see, hear, or experience before feeling safe to work with you?
What parts of your background, story, training, values, or approach would matter to them?
Q27Possible Objections

Consider: money, time, fear of change, fear it won't work, uncertainty about coaching, not feeling ready, not believing their problem is "big enough."

Possible objections include:
How could you respond to these objections ethically and honestly?
Q28Their Language

Write in their words, not coaching jargon. Instead of "limiting beliefs," they might say "I keep getting in my own way."
